Myrtle (Bensley) Poorman formerly of Stroudsburg, Pa. passed away while in the Absecon Manor Nursing facility on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Age 89.
Born and raised in Dingmans Ferry, PA, Myrtle has lived in Stroudsburg, PA, Clearwater, FL, and Brooksville, FL until her retirement. Myrtle graduated from Dingmans Ferry high school. She worked for the Ronson Corp in Delaware Water Gap, PA for 20+ years. At age 50, Myrtle went to nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked as an LPN for Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL for 15 years until her retirement. She loved to bowl, play bingo, enjoyed knitting, and caring for others. Myrtle was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary in Stroudsburg and Brooksville, FL.
Myrtle is survived by her son Donald and his wife, Elizabeth Poorman of Sewell, NJ, her son Rob and his wife, Mickey Poorman of Stroudsburg, PA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her sister Marion Meyer; her brother Joseph Bensley; her sister Barbara Major; and her parents, Julia and Roy Bensley.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation that will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 N. 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Memorial service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Inurnment to follow at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
