Deborah J. Schlager, 62, of Stroudsburg, went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, June 6, 2019 at Cedar Crest Hospital, Lehigh Valley. Born October 12, 1956 of Phyllis Cocking & late Alfred Cocking, she grew up in Mine Hill, NJ. She was the wife of Roland R. Schlager Jr., with whom she shared 36 years of marriage this past March 19. For many years, Deborah was a member of Calvary Bible Church in East Stroudsburg, PA where she sang in the choir, served as a secretary, and served in ministry at Youth for Christ. Outside of serving in the church, Deborah loved dogs, feeding her birds & squirrels, listening to her music, playing games & spending time at her “home away from home” in Lancaster, PA. Among all of these joys her greatest passion was being surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her 3 children; Andrew Schlager & common-law wife Dana Beard, Sarah Schlager, & Jonathan Schlager & his wife Lauren who is expecting Deborah’s first grandchild in October. Deborah is survived by her 3 siblings; Cindy Ridner, Bruce Cocking, & Roger Cocking. She is also survived by 6 nephews & 2 nieces. She also leaves behind her dog, Chloe. There will be a memorial service and meal at 4:00PM Thursday, June 13 at Calvary Bible Church, 9 Three Point Garden Rd. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Deborah is and will continue to be very loved & missed.
