Obituary

Charles Jesse Smith, 34, of Belvidere, NJ went to heaven to be with his sister Dawn and brother Jason on August 12, 2019. Born on November 23, 1984, he was the son of Dr. Charles and Marilyn Smith. He is survived by his brothers Michael and Casey; sisters Robin and Kimberly; sister-in-law Kate; nephews Kory, Logan, Matthew and Maxx; nieces Bella and Zoe. What mattered most to him was his family whom he dearly loved.

Charles lit up a room with his booming voice and charisma. He always wanted to be around people and include everyone. From little, his mom would tell him, “Come on Charles, make me laugh!” He could make an entire room cry with laughter. His classic impersonations were Arnold Schwarzenegger and William Wallace of Braveheart.

Charles loved going to the US Tennis Open, Forlini’s restaurant with his family, music, and good food. He excelled at playing drums and basketball, and was a big movie buff.

Charles was very generous with a big heart, and in the end did the uttermost unselfish act one can possibly do. He donated 5 of his organs through the Gift of Life Donor Program. The staff said it was extremely rare to have someone give so many strong organs. He wouldn’t go out any other way than several helicopters, ambulances, a jet, and over 100 people staged across the east coast as 7 other families awaited their miracle.

Charles was a member of Labor of Love USA. He loved Jesus since a little boy and was unashamed to tell people about Him. He loved the saying his dad taught him that no matter what life throws at us we are “On top of the world.” Charles’s struggle with addiction is over and we all picture him entering into heaven shouting his famous line “The champ is here!”

The viewing will be held from 2 p.m to 3 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. service, Sunday, August 18, at Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church, 915 N 5th St., Stroudsburg, PA. Burial will follow in the Montana Cemetery in Harmony, NJ. The Jospeh Pula Home, Inc. 23 Nth 9th St. Strousburg, PA is in charge of the arrangements.
